How
to use our Opaque Inkjet Transfer Paper
What you need
- Opaque
Transfer Paper
- A dark or bright colored t-shirt made of 100% cotton
- A household iron or heat press
- A hard, flat surface - like a counter top. Do not use a glass or
metal surface. An ironing board is not recommended.
- A pillowcase
Printing
- Print on the side without the lines
- Do not reverse (flip or mirror) the image before printing
- Select a printer setting that will not use extremely high levels of ink
(i.e. plain paper)
- After the image is printed, allow time for it to dry completely
Peeling and Trimming
- Holding the image side of transfer toward you, make a small 1/4 inch hard
crease at the corner edge of the transfer.
- Flip the transfer over and crease the same corner again but in the
opposite direction.
- Holding the back side of the transfer toward you, gently tear the paper
backing on the crease to separate the transfer from the paper backing.
Do not tear the transfer layer.
- When you have made the tear, separate the layers and SLOWLY peel the
transfer just past the image (about 1/4 inch past the image on one side or
corner). Stop there and realign the paper backing with the image
layer.
- Trim around your image. The closer you trim, the less
"white" of the transfer paper you will see around your image after
it's on the shirt.
- After trimming the transfer, GENTLY peel the remaining paper backing away
from the transfer.
Ironing On The Transfer
- Preheat the iron on the next to hottest setting for 5 minutes. NO STEAM!
- Fold a pillowcase in half and place it on the hard, smooth ironing
surface. Place the pillowcase in a manner in which you will not iron
over any seams. Iron the pillowcase to remove wrinkles.
- Place the t-shirt on top of the pillowcase and smooth any wrinkles away.
- Place the transfer "FACE UP" on the t-shirt. Next, place
the parchment sheet (ironing sheet) over the transfer.
- It is very important that the entire transfer fits under the parchment
sheet leaving no area of the transfer uncovered.
- Using firm pressure, slide iron from left to right (or right to left)
starting at the top of the transfer. Slowly move down the transfer
working in the "left to right" direction. Do this for 1
minute, going back and repeating over the same areas to fill up 1 minute.
- Then, switch direction and work top to bottom (or bottom to top) starting
on one side of the transfer and working to the opposite side. Do this
for 1 minute.
- Be sure to cover edges and corners well.
- Allow the transfer to cool to the touch then
carefully peel away the parchment sheet. Note: It will cool
faster if you carefully move t-shirt away from ironing area.
Heat Press Instructions
- Place wrinkle free garment onto press pad with transfer (print side up)
onto garment.
- Place parchment sheet on top of the transfer, making sure the entire
transfer is covered.
- For all sizes of transfers, press at 350 degrees Fahrenheit/176degrees
Celsius for 10 seconds, with high pressure.
- Remove from heat and allow the transfer to cool to the touch. Then
peel away parchment sheet.
Washing
- Do not wear t-shirt prior to washing.
- Turn t-shirt inside out.
- Wash in cold water using a gentle detergent
- AVOID BLEACH OR BLEACH ALTERNATIVE DETERGENTS
- Remove promptly from washer. Colors may bleed if garment is left wet
too long. If bleeding occurs, rewash immediately.
- Tumble dry on low or medium setting (adding towels can improve drying).
- If garment needs ironing, DO NOT iron directly on the transfer.
